October Update 2019 Jello, my name is Inigo Montoya. Hold on, hold on…no it’s not. Sometimes I get confused and lose control. It’s been going on a long time now. When I was a kid, I almost drowned and somebody else’s life flashed before my eyes. Even though I survived, I still feel like I got rooked somehow. Not for nothing and FYI, but I hear that Gary Larson may be thawing out “The Far Side” after 25 years in cryogenica. Now if they could only do something about Ted Williams. I hope each of you got through the summer, dog days, hurricane days and all and is now enjoying the (somewhat) cooler Fall temperatures. I must tell you though that here in SWVA, water is still only a dusty memory as the grass is like straw. At least we don’t have to mow. Small comfort. Anyway, I just got back from seeing off my old pal and folk hero Danny Doyle. He shuffled off about a month or so ago. A time was held at the Lahinch Tavern & Grill in Potomac, MD. A good number of musicians as well as some civilians showed up to play a few tunes, sing a few songs and say, “Slán abhaile”. No tears but lots of smiles. So, this month, I’m appearing at Kevin Barry’s Restaurant & Pub, 117 W. River Street, Savannah, Georgia, Tuesday – Saturday 8-12 October. As you know, shows start right on the button at 8:00 PM-ish, in what continues to be the best listening room in the states and beyond. There is plenty of room throughout the joint to chat and social mediate. But the listening room features a series of what are, in effect, mini-concerts over the length of the evening. Of course it’s a pub and maintains a relaxed atmosphere, but we try to feature the songs, stories and entertainment while keeping extraneous crowd noise to a minimum so that everyone can enjoy the craic. That includes me. Performance dates for 2020 are now being booked. So please spread the word if you or anyone you know might be interested in engaging the songs, stories and fancy patter of this here throwback. Here’s a link to my Sonicbids EPK: https://www.sonicbids.com/band/frankemerson2/ So, I guess that just about wraps it up for this month. Drop a line or an email or a Facebook commo if you feel like it. I’m glad to start a conversation at any time. In case I don’t see you next week, I’ll look for you down the road. In the mean time, please join me in keeping in your thoughts and prayers those men and women who, for our sake, go in harm’s way at home and overseas. All the best for now, Frank P.S. I still have some copies of my book, “Frank Tells Tales”, available. It’s never too early to think of Christmas presents: wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, say no more. In addition, though I have no CDs left, you can download and in most cases purchase individual pieces of my music from a number of sources, including Youtube and also Spotify, Apple iTunes, Google Music Store, Rhapsody, Deezer, Amazon, thru CD Baby or even at my website: www.frankemerson.com.
