November 2018 Update Hello one and all – Daylight Savings time ends on 4 November so, be sure to remember to set your clocks back otherwise you’ll be late or early for something or other, which would be OK or too-bad – one or the other. See how convenient and malleable Daylight Saving Time is? Or maybe it ain’t. No matter. It’s November so I should just shut up and get on with it. Speaking of November, Tuesday the 6th is Election Day. I hope you will all get out and vote, except those of you who have done so already. The days of “Vote often and early for James Michael Curley” are – or should be, if there’s a God in Heaven – behind us. Anyway, I trust everyone had a happy and safe Halloween. Let’s also take this opportunity to wish a Happy Birthday to Kevin Barry’s Pub - now going into its 39th year of operation. Now that I mention Kevin Barry’s, I’ll be on stage there all next week, Monday thru Sunday (5-11 November). As usual, Monday thru Saturday, I begin at 8:00. Also as usual, if there is a Sunday session, which runs from about 6:30-8:30, I’ll go on just afterward – around 8:45ish. About the Savannah Ceilidh Band-hosted session, the last time I was in town and followed it, I was thrilled to see that they had a pretty packed room. It’s a good indication that these things are getting more and more popular, so come early, bring an instrument and/or your voice, enjoy yourselves and maybe even stick around for some of my stuff. I should point out that Saturday; the 10th is the 243rd birthday of the United States Marine Corps. We’ll certainly be observing that at Kevin Barry’s. We will also be observing Veterans Day on Sunday the 11th. Since the date falls on a Sunday, the next day (Monday the 12th) is designated as a holiday so you can come by and join us with abandon. I might also note that this November 11th is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Of course, we’ll be making the proper observations of all these anniversaries with the appropriate music. I guess that’s it for now. I still have a fair number of copies of “Frank Tells Tales” available. I’m not having you on. I still have some!! So get’em while they’re hot or at least luke warm. I’m sure one would make a perfect Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanzaa present for anyone you hold dear – or something. Please join me in keeping our men and women in harms way at home and abroad in your thoughts and prayers. All the best for now, Frank .
