May Update

Hello everyone – I hope all of you made it through tax season with as little bruising and bleeding as possible. As your man said, “I’m proud to be paying taxes in the United States, but you know: I could be twice as proud for half the taxes.” It’s a nice thought, but probably won’t come to pass in our life times. Enough of this frivolity – on to the business at hand. As you can see from the poster, I’ll be appearing at Kevin Barry’s in Savannah 11-17 May ( as I write this, it’s the week to come – It’s the day after Mothers’ Day, so let me wish all to whom it applies, a very Happy Mothers’ Day) Shows start at 8:00 Monday – Saturday and on Sundays I start after the open session. The open session starts at about 6:30. It’s anchored by the Savannah Ceilidh Group and friends and everyone is invited to bring an instrument and play or sing along or just experience an Irish/Celtic tradition, with mostly traditional Celtic music. After that finishes up, I go on. Usually that’s around 8:45-ish (I suppose that’s vague enough). I then play ‘til who laid the rails – which is at the latest about 1:00 AM, but usually a little earlier. So I hope you can make it in some time this week. Saturday the 16th is Armed Forces Day. Of course we’ll be having a few songs for those who stand in harm’s way. To amend George Orwell: We sleep safe in our beds because rough men and women stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm. God bless all and see you down the road. Frank
