January 2020 Update

January 2020 Update Hello to everyone out there in 20/40…correctible to 2020 – No, I’m not talking about myopia or a TV program about an unsolved murder or missing co-ed, but rather about the unlikely, uncomfortable-to-admit year in which we find ourselves. It’s uncomfortable for me in particular because with the demise of Kevin Barry’s Pub, I find that my performing career, such as it be, is in hiatus. This is not to be confused with a hiatal hernia, even though sound equipment can be cumbersome at times. Truss me on this. Nor do I claim to be retired, in the classical sense. Oh, I’m retired, alright: yesterday, I was tired. Today I’m tired again. So I’m re-tired. Rather, as Jack Palance said to Lee Marvin and Keith Carradine said to Tom Selleck in my two favorite Monte Walsh movies, “Nobody gets to be a cowboy forever.” Nor do I ever want to ride fence. So, to apply that logic in my situation, I have decided to follow the lead recently set by the Duke of Sussex and let my wife support me. Though I do believe – as she does most fervently – as Rocky Graziano said, “It’s only a temporary condition”. Therefore, not to worry. As the old-time vaudevillians put it, I am not “taking the veil”. Instead, I find myself with a stretch of open time looming before me. To wit: I am between gigs. In light of that condition, interested parties can access information and song samplings At www.frankemerson.com and www.sonicbids.com/ban/frankemerson2 At present, I’ve take a sentiment from an episode of the Dick Van Dyke Show and am enjoying the state of dolce far niente – pleasant idleness, how sweet to do nothing. That is of course when I can squeeze it in between the ever-growing, ever-looming list of “honey-dos”. That said, please join me in keeping in your thoughts and prayers those men and women who, for our sake, go in harm’s way at home and overseas. All the best for now and god bless, Frank Frank Emerson 790 E. Spiller Street Wytheville, VA 24382 276-613-0598 www.frankemerson.com www.ifreelance.com/pro/4448 Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum
