January 2018 Update Hello Everyone! 2018. I’m having a hard time accepting the fact that this is the number of an actual year. It’s more like the number of feet in a half mile. I know it’s not, but it’s more like it. Anyway, I hope that you all had a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Fulfilling Festivus and/or any other holiday that you celebrate. Also here’s wishing that everyone has a happy, peaceful and productive 2018. (There’s that number again. Can’t get away from it!) To continue then: I’ll be back at Kevin Barry’s Pub next week Monday - Sunday (22-28). Monday - Saturday, I’m on stage at 8:00. On Sunday, I start after the session finishes. Just to remind you, there is generally a traditional open session at Kevin Barry’s every Sunday that runs roughly 6:30 - 8:30. It’s hosted by the talented and welcoming Savannah Ceilidh Band. Everyone is invited to participate in or just listen to some highly entertaining songs and tunes. I don’t know if you realized it or not but at Kevin Barry’s, you can reserve Heroes Hall or Liberty Hall on the second floor for a private event. There are a full-service bar and kitchen and room for up to 200 people. For information call 912-233-9626 (www.kevinbarrys.com) An advance notice, which I’ll repeat next month, I’m fortunate to be playing at the Second Annual Low Country Irish Fest (https://www.lowcountryirishfest.com/) February 10 and 11 in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Access the event’s website for all sorts of information such as performers’ names and schedules, vendors, ticket prices and directions. It’s indoors at the Omar Shrine convention Center, so it’ll go on rain or shine. Should be a good time…or vary a quote from a Barney Rush song, which might be confusing but which I might be performing, “the craic will be ninety!” I’ll have copies of “Frank Tells Tales” available for purchase. The book makes a swell gift and it’s hypoallergenic and gluten-free. It’ll be $10 at the gig or $11.50 through the mail. Just send a check made out to me at the following address: 790 East Spiller Street Wytheville, Virginia 24382 I’ll autograph a copy made out to whomever you say and send it to you straight away. (If you don’t want it autographed, that’s OK too. I’ll have hurt feelings, but I’ll survive…I guess) I hope to see you at Kevin Barry’s some time during the week. Have a bite to eat and stay for the evening. We can share a few songs, stories and toasts. If you feel like it, drop me a line or some such (Facebook, e-mail, etc) when you have the time. Please join me in keeping out men and women in harms way at home and abroad in our thoughts and prayers. Best for now, Frank .
