Hospital Again

Well, wouldn’t you know it - I’ve got another couple of dates with the sawbones on 10 and 17 October. This time it'll be at Wake Forest - Baptist. Apparently, my last cat scan revealed that not only is my left kidney full of piss and vinegar, but it's also home to a kidney stone the size of the Flatiron building. What Dr. Guiterrez - not sure of the spelling, but he knows who he is - is planning on doing is drilling a couple of holes in my back into the kidney and planting a satchel charge on the boulder. After he blows it up, he'll poke on back in there with some sort of a shop-vac and suck out the the debris. The big job will be on the 10th. I'll have to wear a hose coming out of the hole for a week and then on the 17th, another hole is drilled and they go in for the mop - up operation. No more hoses. They sew me up and I’m good to go. The doc says it's routine and that there's nothing to worry about and I'll be back at it in a jiffy. I just hope his definition of a jiffy is the same as mine. I had to give up a gig (7-13 October) at Kevin Barry's in order to do this. So Gabriel Donohue is going to stay over a week and appear in my place. Good of him. With luck and prayer and if the creek don't rise, I'll be back on stage for the 4-10 November booking at Kevin Barry’s. Hope to see you then. Frank Emerson 790 E.
