August Update

In Savannah for a week at Kevin Barry's (11-17) . Looking forward to it, Shows are at 8:00 PM except for Sunday. Starting at about 6:30, the Savannah Ceilidh Band - anchored by Seldom Sober - hosts an open seisun (session), during which everyone is invited to participate. Sing, play an instrument, or just listen. They're also glad to talk with you about the music. It's entertaining and an education. I go on after they finish which is between 8:30 and 9:00 - and continue til the end of the night. Here’s hoping you can make it by for a few songs, laughs and drinks. In addition, a happy 40th anniversary to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, U.S. Army, which was re- organized and activated on 1 July 1974 under (then) LTC Kenneth C, Leuer. Jumping into Ft. Stewart, 1/75 later relocated to Hunter Army Airfield, where they are based today, in Savannah, GA. Co A 1st Ranger Battalion was constituted in May, 1942 commanded by (then) CPT William O. Darby, and activated in June in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. Also congratulations and OO-RAH to the United States Marine Corps for designating all units in the Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) as Marine Raider units. The Raider name is the legacy of the 1st and 2nd Raider Battalions established in Spring of 1942 under (then) LtCol Merrit Edson and (then) Maj Evans Carlson.
