August Update

Hello Everyone – A note to let you know a few things: 1. I’ll be appearing at Kevin Barry’s Pub in Savannah 7-13 August. Monday Saturday, I start at 8:00 PM. (Not incidentally, 7 August is Purple Heart Day and the 75th anniversary of the opening of the Battle for Guadalcanal during World War II. We’ll be recognizing these points.) On Sunday, I get on stage after the Session, which runs from about 6:30 until about 8:30 (both PM), which means I’ll be starting at 8:45-ish (also PM). If there’s no session, I’ll kick things off at the Monday - Saturday time. I should mention that this session, which is always very capably and professionally hosted by the Savannah Ceilidh Band, is an open one. This means that everyone is invited to bring an instrument – including voice – and sit in, which is to say: participate. It’s OK too, if you’d just like to sit and sip and enjoy some fine Celtic traditional music. 2. The short lists of the 2017 Irish Pubs Global Awards have just been published. If you recall, this was the contest in which last year, Kevin Barry’s won the “Most Authentic Irish Pub” award. This year, Kevin Barry’s has made the short list – that is to say the final top ten out of all the pubs in North America in 7 out of 12 categories. They are as follows: *Irish Pub of the Year *Best Entertainment Experience *Best Irish Whiskey Experience *Best Bar Person *Best Marketing Campaign *Best food Experience *Best Cocktail Experience I’m sure that I can speak for the entire Kevin Barry’s organization when I say thank you very much indeed to all those who took the time cast a vote or two. Here’s keeping out fingers crossed for when the awards are presented in October. 3. I have plenty of copies of “Frank Tells Tales” available for purchase. They make wonderful birthday, Christmas, Arbor Day, Thanksgiving, Anniversary, Divorce, Annulment, Christening, Confirmation, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, etc. etc., etc. gifts. The book is $10 at the gig or $11.50 through the mail. Just send a check made out to me at the following address: 790 East Spiller Street Wytheville, Virginia 24382 I’ll autograph a copy made out to whomever you say and send it to you straight away. (If you don’t want it autographed, that’s OK too. I’ll have hurt feelings, but I will cope.) 4. I’m out of CDs right now, but you can download lots of my stuff through CD Baby. Just type in www.cdbaby.com and then enter “frank emerson’ in the search box. You can also find me on Spotify, Apple iTunes, Google Music Store, Rhapsody, Deezer and Amazon. I guess that’ll do it for this rant. I hope that you can come by to see me this coming week. If you feel like it, drop an e-mail to me at femerson@embarqmail.com or stop by for a visit at www.frankemerson.com. So long and God bless until next month and please join me in keeping those of us in harms way - at home and overseas - in our daily thoughts and prayers. Frank
